Sony W290 and W270 expand wide-angle Cybershot line-up
The good news here is that now Sony has expanded its wide-angle Cybershot W-series to two models, the Sony W290 with a 3" LCD and the Sony W270 with a 2.7" LCD. Once again, we will ask, "was it really necessary?" but these type of comments rarely the burst the bubble of the marketing people who come up with all these.

The 12mp 1/2.3" is here as well, but the good news is that of a 5x optical zoom lens that starts at 28mm wide. The lens is similar to that found in their predecessor, the W170.
The camera will be available in four colors, silver, black, bronze and blue, with Sony recognizing that photographers who like wide-angle don't like "loud" camera-body colors :)
The feature set of the new Cybershots of today is nearly identical, infact Sony's own press release headlines this announcement as "SONY ADDS INTELLIGENT AUTO TECHNOLOGY...". Some hardcore PSAM photographers may see that as a contradiction :)

The W270 appears to be destined for Europe, with the only difference we could figure out being a 2.7" LCD instead of a 3" LCD. For more, please check Photo Club Alpha and Photography Blog.
