Review Train (Nikon P80, Lumix FZ28 and FX150, Canon SD880is, etc)
Oh my! Nine hours without a new blog post? It must be a record ;-) But fear not, we have a new edition of the "Review Train", a round-up of camera and gear reviews from the photo-blogo-sphere.
Spotlight: The ISO bunny returns (Olympus E30)
Master Chong has a new post of his trademark "ISO bunny" comparisons, this time dissecting the Olympus E30 ISO-range pictures. This may also be of interest to Olympus Micro Four Thirds fans, as this may (or may not) be the sensor/imaging-engine combination to be used with what our regular reader MrsFixIt calls the "carrot cam", aka, the orange Olympus Micro Four Thirds prototype, which should transform into a real camera in 2009.
DSLR Reviews
The Online Photographer boldly goes and picks among three full-frame DSLRs he has been reviewing for the last few days. His findings may surprise you! Teaser in the form of a song: "Video killed, the radio star".
Photography Review spotlights a user review of the Canon EF-S 18-200mm IS lens, a lens that did not exactly get the "bed of roses" treatment at dpreview.
Another Olympus DSLR, this time Megapixel.net, which badly needs an RSS feed, has reviewed the versatile for its price Olympus E520. How did it do? And what were the pros/cons? No spoilers here! But I see three 10s!
And we close with a year-end summary of the 20 DSLR reviews posted at Photography Blog.
SuperZoom Reviews
No singing teasers here, but Photography Pocket UK Lint has posted their review of the Panasonic RAWzoomer FZ-28. So what did they think? No spoilers here!
A competitor in this field is the Coolpix P80, but Nikon did not even pretend to go through the motions of offering RAW for this one. Booooh! But RAW is just one of the parameters, especially when dealing with a tiny little 1/2.3" sensor. So what did Imaging Resource find in their review?
Not-DSLR Reviews
If you like your megapixels like your groceries, cheaper by the pound, then you might be interested in the Let's Go Digital review of the Panasonic FX150. At least Panasonic gave it RAW! Conclusions on page #9. Monet reprints on pages #6 and #7 :)
Another song teaser: "Silver and Gold" ;-) DP Interface interfaces with the new wide-angle Elphixuxy (Elph, Ixus, Ixy), the SD880IS, aka Ixus 870 IS, aka stupid marketing people who create messy camera model names. So to summarize, DPI reviews the aforementioned camera - the gold body version. As with all reviews, there are pros and cons. How did it do? We blog, they review, you decide!
DCI has been busy, with two published reviews in the IEEE Transactions of Digital Camera Reviews. First up, the Canon A2000is, a Power-shot that lost its power when Canon removed the manual exposure controls. The second review is of the Pentax Optio V20, a camera we haven't seen mentioned in quite a while.
Also qualifying in the "not DSLR" category is the Kodak EasyChair W1020 digital picture frame which got reviewed at Photo Review. No Imatest for this one though :-)
