Review Train (5D Mark II, Lumix G1, Alpha A300, Canon SD880is, etc)
The camera reviews are not talking any breaks! We have a new wave of exciting reviews to "digest"! To please the purists, today we are using the terms "iLC" and "FLC" for interchangeable/fixed lens camera :)
Spotlight review: 5D Mark II by Roland Lim
Roland Lim has posted a jam-packed review of Canon's highly discussed 5D Mark II. Included are comparisons with the Nikon D3 and full-size full-range ISO shots. But that's just some of the pixel-peeping candy. There's a whole lot more. As usual, no spoilers here :-) And if you like the review or the camera, be sure to digg it! And if you want more 5DMk2 action, be sure to check the latest updates at the 5DMk2 diary. Update: The kit with the 24-105 lens is in-stock at Amazon itself for $3500.
iLC Reviews
It's a G-thang! A new Panasonic G1 review is out in the internet wonderland, this one by Photoxels.com, using their trademark review format. So what did they think? And did the camera earn any type of a badge? We won't reveal, you have to find out :-) If you like the review or the camera, digg it!
Just like Panasonic did with the LX3, Sony should receive some credit for releasing both a 14mp and a 10mp version of the A3xx series DSLR. Unlike Canon (50D) and Pentax/Samsung (K20D/GX20), they didn't "force" their upgraders to jump to 14-15 megapixels, which given the current technology of the current sensors seems to be a bit of an over-reach. With that as a long preface, here is the Sony Alpha A300 review at Photography Blog.
FLC reviews
We start with veteran CNet camera reviewer Lori G kicking the tires of the Nikon P80 superzoom. At least Nikon didn't pretend to give this model RAW, but it was a welcome return to superzooms by Nikon. Although obviously nowhere as near the feature set as their Coolpix 8800 and 8700 of the 8mp 2/3" sensor era.
Next up, the Canon SD880is seems to be on a review-a-day, as DC Resource has posted their last review of 2008. Of the many many ElphIxuIxy models, this is of special interest because it starts at 28mm wide.
Non-Camera Reviews
Photography Reviews reviews X-Rite's Color Munki. That's a cool product name, although it's not working that well for Rite Aid :-(
What exactly is the "Review Train"?
The "Review Train" is a round-up of digital camera reviews from around the net. This is great for both fans and non-fans of reviews. For fans of reviews, it provides them a single post jam-packed with at least a six-pack of new reviews. And those who are not particularly interested in reviews, they can simply ignore this post and check our other posts.
