The Power of Photography over Video (Presidential Meeting today)

We rarely delve into the world of photojournalism, but this is one of those rare occasions. Today was a historic day as President Elect Barack Obama visited the White House. The most powerful evidence of this event was not the video footage, but two still pictures! One, a wide-angle picture inside the oval office showing the two presidents sitting and talking, and the other of the two First Ladies sitting and chatting. So despite the availability of video footage, one after another, the news networks prominently featured still pictures, especially those two mentioned above.
