Seven superzooms and four DSLRs in the new Top Sellers Charts
Seven superzooms and four DSLRs take up almost half of the new top 25. That goes to show "where the photographers at". The Canon-vs-Panasonic superzoom wars continue. So don't delay, avoid the spoilers, and jump to the new top selling digital camera charts of Amazon. And if you want to catch up with previous episodes, be sure to check the Market Pulse mini-blog. Screen-shot teaser is right below.
Sony picks up momentum?
Sony is picking up momentum, with the W120/B knocking on the Top 10 door, the H50 staying in the Top 25, and the W300/B knocking on the top 25 door... The A300 kit was a fluke, probably a limited-time discount or pricing error that caused a feeding frenzy... More price cuts at Sony as the ramp up to the holiday shopping season begins. The W150/B is now down to $180 and the W170/B is now down to $230.
Canon's new "failure"?
Granted, a failure by Canon standards is a success by most other manufacturers, but Canon's anti-photographer decision to remove PSAM from the A-series (A2000-IS, A1000-IS) has not gone un-noticed by photographers. Both the A1000-IS and A2000-IS are barely registering in the Top 100, while all the other new Canon's are in the top 25 and top 40. Granted, the A590 IS price at $120 is irresistible but that hasn't stopped the newer Elphs from overshadowing their "older" counterparts at higher prices.
Compact RAWsumer Wars
The G10 vs LX3 is a non-battle at the moment, with the G10 holding steady in the top ten, while the LX3 dropping due to unpredictable pricing, going as low as $400 and as high as $500... The P6000 is not in the top 100.
Cameras with momentum
- Canon Digital Rebel XS 1000D kit
- Pentax Optio W60, cool blue color
- Sony W300 black
