New Olympus Four Thirds mid-range DSLR coming up (E-A1 prototype)

Olympus revealed today at Photokina Press Day that they are working on a new Four Thirds DSLR that fills the space between the flagship E3 and the versatile E520. The code-name for this product and prototype is E-A1 and will be changed to a proper product name once the product is finalized we can presume.

Basic specifications

  • New 12-megapixel LiveMOS sensor
  • sensor-shift image stabilization
  • pop-up flash
  • status LCD on top
  • rotating LCD on the back
  • 11-point auto focus

Not much is known about this, but Four Thirds Photo has summarized it.

A picture of the body can be seen at Engadget. Three more pictures showing the rotating LCD.

An excellent collection of camera body pictures at the Four Thirds User.
