As the Leica world turns: S2, M-series, Luxes
Leica managed to steal the show at this year's Photokina, mainly thanks to the big S2 bomb it dropped on everyone.
But first we start with the M-series, where prices for the US market have been announced. Pop Photo has the price list. If you buy the M8.2, the viewfinder, and the four newly announced lenses, expect to pay almost $33,000. You can have your choice of a brand new fully featured car, but it won't be a Leica :)
Leica Rumors points to an L-forum thread where the Leica czar is quoted as saying there is (price) room for two cameras between the LX3/D-Lux4 and the M8. Of course this could be taken to mean just about anything, and cameras filling the gap between $800 and $6000 could be just about anything under the sun and moon and stars :)
More S2 buzz
It may feel like the S2 came out a couple of weeks ago, but it was just a couple of days ago. Here is a sampling of the more Leica S2 coverage online: [BJoP | David Farkas | Imaging Resource | Let's Go | Megapixel blog]
